It is a simple South Indian dessert made with semolina, ghee, and sugar. This recipe is made mostly for breakfast and is served with other savory dishes like Upma, Khara Bhat, and Poha. This recipe can be served as dessert or dessert at any time, whether it is lunch or dinner.
A variety of sweets are made from semolina throughout India. In different places, their names, colors, texture, and sweetness vary due to the way they are made. One such South Indian Classical Desert recipe is Rava Sheera which is made with thick semolina and ghee.
I have posted about several sweets made from semolina in my blog. The methods of making all the recipes are different and they are also quite different from each other. Especially in North India, this recipe is known as semolina halwa.
This recipe is thick and does not contain saffron color. But in South India, molasses recipe is made in many ways. The recipe I posted is very simple but you can also use any fruit to make it attractive. You can cut pineapple, banana, orange or mango and add it to make it like a pudding. Although I have kept this recipe quite simple and simple.
Now I would like to give you some ways and suggestions to make delicious Rava molasses. First of all, always use thick Rava or Bombay Rava for this dessert recipe. Never make this recipe with fine or spicy Rava. If you want to add any type of fruit, then you can add it, but for this, you have to control the amount of sugar in the Rava molasses, otherwise, it will be much sweeter.
Material for Rava Sheera Recipe:-
To roast:
- 2 tablespoons Ghee
- 7 cashews, halved
- 2 tablespoons raisins
- ½ cup Rava or semolina
Other material:
- 1½ cups of water
- ½ cup of sugar
- ¼ cup ghee
- 3 drops yellow food color (food color)
- ½ tsp cardamom powder
Best Steps for Make Rava Sheera Recipe Homemade
Step1:- First, put 2 tablespoons ghee in a pan and then add 7 cashews, 2 tablespoons raisins and fry on low heat.
Step2:- When it turns golden brown, keep it aside.
Step3:- Now add ½ cup Rava to the remaining ghee and keep frying on low heat for 5 minutes. Then take it out and keep it aside.
Step4:- Put 1½ water in a large kadhai and boil till it boils.
Step5:- Then add Rava slowly to it and keep stirring continuously.
Step6:- The Rava will soak up all the water from it and form a mixture without knots.
Step7:- Now mix ½ cup sugar in it and stir continuously.
Step8:- This dissolves all the sugar in it and the Rava absorbs it.
Step9:- After that add, 4 cups ghee and 3 drops yellow food color to it. Adding food color depends on your desire whether you want to mix it or not.
Step10:- Now mix it well, so that everything mixes evenly.
Step11:- Cover it and let it cook for 5 minutes so that the Rava cooks well.
Step12:- Now add roasted cashew nuts, raisins, and ½ tsp cardamom powder.
Step13:- Now mix it well, so that everything mixes well.
Step14:- Now in the end enjoy molasses with saline rice or you can serve it in Prasad form.
